PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Optinet Systems is contracted by R&H Rail to provide Engineering, Project Management and Installation services on the BAA Durban resignalling project. The re-signalling project is an initiative by PRASA to upgrade the existing PRASA infrastructure to align with the new rolling stock. The contract was awarded to Optinet in March 2016 and is expected to complete in 2021.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ACTUAL SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Provide Project Management Services to manage the design and execution of the Telecoms, HVAC, Security and Access Control scope.
  • Provide Telecoms design support to R&H Rail.
  • Fibre Optic Network Design and develop associated IFC and as-build CAD Drawings Design, manufacture and FAT the SCADA backplates.
  • Install all Telecoms equipment.
  • Install, Test and Commission the Fibre Optic Cable network – both Aerial and buried fibre cables.
  • Develop Post Installation Check-out test documentation for all sub-systems.
  • Develop Site Acceptance Test documentation for all sub-systems.
  • Develop Systems Integration Test documentation for all sub-systems.

Gautrain Cellular Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Optinet Systems is contracted by VE Automation on behalf of SPG to provide Engineering, Project Management and Installation services on the Gautrain Underground Cellular Implementation Project.

The scope was executed in two phases, the first phase comprising of the BTS Hotel, located at Rosebank Station and the Cellular coverage of Park, Rosebank and Sandton underground stations while Phase 2 was the provision of Cellular coverage in the tunnels between stations. The system comprises of fibre fed remote amplification units which provide RF coverage via antennas and leaky feeder cables.

Centurion Car Park Extension

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Turn-key telecommunication system extensions to accommodate the new car park at Centurion Station. The contract spanned a period of 14 months. It required extensive integration with the existing Gautrain telecommunication systems and infrastructure. Due to systems obsolescence, the CCTV, Cam-connect Software ( that controls CCTV views as a result of alarms) and Telephone Systems required upgrading or replacement to ensure continued compatibility.

The scope of works included 10 x CCTV Pole bases, 6 x pole mount PTZ cameras, 4x fixed PTX cameras, 2 x indoor fisheye cameras, new SCADA RTU panel to provide AFC interface, upgraded PABX software at Centurion Station, 2x new IP telephones, Fibre Optic Cable, extension of the existing Gautrain BMC network, new local CCTV fibre optic network and the extension of power services to the new car park.

  • Responsible for the detailed Telecommunications System Design which was based on the existing Gautrain systems as well as client requirements.
  • Develop Post Installation Check-out test documentation for all sub-systems.

  • Develop Systems Integration Test documentation for all sub-systems.
  • Develop new and update existing Gautrain drawings to allow for ‘Issue for Construction’ and ‘As-Built’ releases
